Reflexology - Anne-Marie Fegen
My name is Anne-Marie Fegen. I am from the Netherlands but have been living in Scotland for over 20 years. I am delighted to join the team of Aboyne Complementary Health Studios. My qualification matches the National Occupational Standards for reflexology and is listed on the government approved National Qualifications Framework. I am a member of the AoR(association of reflexologists) and I am also a qualified nurse.
What is reflexology?
It is a technique been known for 4000 years, there is evidence that the Egyptians used reflexology as paintings in a Tomb in Saqqara show. The Chinese used reflexology in conjunction with acupuncture. Reflexology is a pressurepoint technique used preferably on feet (the very roots of our being) but hands is an option as well.
How can reflexology help me?
Reflexology works the whole body by using pressure points on the feet that relate to organs in the body. The sessions will improve body circulation, speed up the elimination of waste products so that toxins do not get a chance to built up to harmful levels and can help to control the perception of pain by stimulating the release of endorphins (the body's natural painkillers). Reflexology has been shown to be effective for digestive disorders, stress-related conditions, fertility, and migraine, just to name a few.
Who can benefit?
All ages. Many people find the most benefit in a course of treatments and maintaining regular sessions for health and well being.
What happens when I go for treatment?
A consultation is done by filling in a questionaire together with the reflexologist. A plan is made depending on the needs of the client. During the treatment the reflexologist makes sure her client is comfortable and gives feedback on her findings.
How will I feel after the treatment?
Most clients feel relaxed and experience a sense of well-being. One can feel very tired, tearful, in need of the toilet more often. These symptoms are transient and part of the healing process
